The Alt/Option key is the one you use if you wish to select a boot partition when starting the computer, you also press it when typing certain characters on your keyboard, such as # (Alt-3) or ¢. Alt+H+FF, Alt+H+B+O, Alt+H+I+R, Alt+H+M+C, and countless more orgasm inducing keyboard shortcuts get me through my day. The problem is, my personal laptop is a Mac. Mac does not let you use the alt key because it doesn't have one. So, I found an old Dell keyboard at home and I've hooked it up to my laptop. Im app for mac. Still, it doesn't work.

- You can use any USB keyboard on a MAC you just have to have it plugged into the correct USB slot, which is on the back of the tower, the lowest one. Put your USB mouse on the one above. Hold down on a windows USB keyboard the following - Windows = CMD Alt = Option.
- On North American Mac keyboards, a key on the bottom row is labeled both Alt and Option. This is the closest thing the Mac offers to the Windows Alt key. In many situations, keyboard shortcuts that involve the Alt key in Windows use the Option key on the Mac.

But now Logitech has given the G15 Mac Support. It's still in Beta, but it looks promising.
On my MBP, I have a Boot Camp Setup with Vista. The concern I have is that to enter the OS selection screen, I need to hold down the Option key. On a Windows Keyboard, does the 'Alt' key takes its place? or will it not recognize it at all if I hold down the Alt key?
I'm only asking because I don't have a USB Windows keyboard to test it, and if I was to rebuy a G15 keyboard, I need to know that it works in both Windows, Mac, but more importantly, Boot Camp.

The PC-keyboard equivalent of Alt on a Mac is called the Option key, and you'll find the Option Key on your Mac if you go two keys to the left of the spacebar. However, the option key on a Mac keyboard is used in a different way than the alt key on a Windows PC. In terms of functionality, the alt key in Windows is often more comparable with the Command key than with the Option key on a Mac. You might be also familiar with the Ctrl and Alt keys from your PC.
